As you may be aware, the government recently announced the expansion of free GP care to all children under the age of 8 and to households earning below the new median income threshold. Eligible current practice patients can apply in the coming months as follows:
-
If your child is aged 6 or 7, you can apply online for a Doctor Visit Card from 11th August 2023.
-
If your household earns below the median income (€47,000 per year after deductibles) you can apply online for a Doctor Visit Card. The extension of free GP care on income grounds will take place in two phases, on September 11th and November 13th.
Further information can be found here: https://www2.hse.ie/services/schemes-allowances/gp-visit-cards/under-8s/

Please note that all patients applying for a new Doctor Visit Card are asked to apply to the below GPs in the practice. This will not affect your choice of GP to attend but will help us to manage our patient lists effectively.

New recommendation for MMR vaccine for infants aged six to less than 12 months prior

Please note that the HSE have recommended that all infants aged 6-11 months should receive an MMR vaccine before travelling abroad (ideally at least 2 weeks before travel).
As measles is circulating widely globally, this recommendation applies to all travel abroad. This is based on the NIAC recommendation* that infants aged six months to less than 12 months of age should receive one dose of MMR vaccine [prior to travelling].
